Help Baby Eliott

Eliott is a two month old baby boy who suffers from an airway problem called Laryngomalacia. While this is a semi-common issue with premature infants in the NICU, Eliott has a more severe case potentially requiring a tracheostomy and a G tube. He also has a very rare airway problem called Vocal Cord Immobility that prevents his airway from opening; therefore, he cannot breathe without support.     Background: Eliott was born on August 2nd, and was long awaited. It took 5 years for his parents to conceive this beautiful miracle. When Eli was born, he couldn't breathe, and he had to be on a CPAP machine. Without it, he would turn blue and his oxygen would drop to life threatening levels. At 10 days old, he had to have his first scope procedure under local anesthesia. This is when he was first diagnosed. Since his procedure, Baby Eli has had three more scopes as well as a major surgery to try to open his airway to avoid needing a tracheostomy. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful, and he could be going in to get his trachea in the coming days. He will require home nurse care as well as many follow-up appointments and more scopes. Not only does he require breathing support, but he may need a G-tube as well for feeding.
