Our beautiful baby boy Daniel has already endured more pain and hardship than most people will in a lifetime — and he’s still just a baby. Daniel was born prematurely at 34 weeks and spent nearly 6 months in the hospital after birth. He was diagnosed with Pierre Robin Sequence, which causes severe issues with breathing and feeding. He underwent multiple procedures just to survive — and now, his journey has only become more complicated. Daniel is currently suspected to have Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) — a rare, lifelong disorder that causes chronic lung and sinus infections and affects his ability to clear mucus from his lungs. He also has aortic dilation, a dangerous heart condition that requires close monitoring and can lead to serious complications without treatment. Daniel is G-tube dependent, meaning he cannot eat by mouth and relies on a feeding tube to survive. He is also battling partial blindness and hearing loss. He needs hearing aids, glasses, and other medical equipment just to interact with the world around him. So far, Daniel has already been through 3 major surgeries — with at least 3 to 4 more scheduled this year. We’ve lost count of the number of hospital stays, emergency visits, and appointments we’ve attended. It’s hard to put into words how exhausting, overwhelming, and heartbreaking this journey has been. But we keep going because Daniel keeps fighting. Unfortunately, the financial strain on our family is unbearable. We are drowning in millions of dollars in medical bills, and expenses are rising every single day.
