Help Baby Charlie's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
This week our world turned upside down. It's with a heavy heart and many tears I announce that we were told that our sweet Charlie has a large, aggressive brain tumor on the bottom of his brain. This tumor has already spread into his cerebellum and down his spinal cord. Monday morning he had his first brain surgery to get a tube in his head to drain the fluid. As of the time I have made this fundraiser he is currently in his second surgery to remove what they can of the tumor in his brain. He will need radiation therapy to combat against the tumor in his cerebellum and spinal cord. So many people have asked to help, and for that my heart is so full knowing the support my sweet sister and her family have during this time. I am making this fundraiser as a means of help and support for them during these next few trying months. So my sister and brother in law can focus on baby Charlie's road of health and healing, and for Cali.
8/1/24 UPDATE:
Surgery last night went better than we all expected. He has a long road ahead of him, but focusing on what his amazing doctors and team have done so far. They are hopeful they have removed most (if not all ) of the tumor on his brain and brain stem. Thankfully it was mostly superficial. He will need radiation treatment still for the cerebellum and spinal cord tumors as those are too invasive to operate on. My sister is currently taking a leave of absence from work to be there for Charlie during his upcoming treatments, and Alex hasn't left Ashley's side at the hospital. If you could please continue to pray and donate for my sweet sister's family I would appreciate it!! They do not deserve to be living this nightmare. And any help is appreciated to keep them by that poor baby's side!! He's only a year old - he needs his parents there!!
8/3/2024 UPDATE
I'm sorry for the delay in this, he was not waking up post op, and I couldn't wrap my brain around what was happening. Good news is he is awake and eating as of this morning!!
Unfortunately, not as much of the tumor was removed as we were hoping. We are impatiently waiting for the results of type of tumor our sweet Charlie is facing. He has his third brain surgery scheduled for Tuesday - depending on the biopsy results. We are praying that he will not need this as this time they would need to go through the cerebellum to get to the tumor. And the risks with that are gut wrenching. Please, please, please continue to pray for Baby Charlie, my sweet sister, cali, and Alex.
I don't know how to thank those who have donated so far. Your kindness and generosity has given that family one less stress. And I personally apologize if you have texted me for an update and I haven't gotten back to you yet. This situation is so hard on my heart and it's been a lot for my whole family to process. Thank you thank you thank you for your continued prayers, and donations to keep Ashley and Alex by our sweet baby's side. This is an ugly, dark road we are on, but I appreciate those shining light on our path ❤️
Hug your babies tight
8/9/2024 UPDATE
Thank you for your patience. I know so many people are so worried/care about/praying for Charlie. I had become paralyzed, and mentally could not handle what was going on with people who mean so, so much to me.
Our sweet Charlie has been diagnosed with stage four cancer in his brain, brain stem, and spinal cord. This cancer is rare and aggressive, but so is Charlie. His fight is our fight and he will never fight alone. He has so many people in his corner that no matter the odds, I know in my heart he cannot lose.
His third brain surgery was Tuesday where they took a more aggressive approach through the cerebellum to get more of the tumor. We are hoping this will be his last surgery for the next 4-6 weeks to give him time to heal. In the meantime he will be starting three aggressive rounds of chemotherapy.
Please keep praying. Please keep holding those babies. Please help my sister's family.
Thank you.
