Help Me Save Baby Casper

On May 15th, while on my way to my uncle’s funeral, I witnessed something I can’t stop thinking about.

We were driving on Route 130 near 605 Crescent Blvd, West Collingswood Heights, NJ, when a truck driver nearly hit a tiny animal in the road. He pulled over, removed it from the highway, placed it beside a blue building, and drove away.

At first, I thought maybe someone else would help.

But after attending my uncle’s funeral, I couldn’t stop thinking about that little animal left alone. My heart wouldn’t let me go home without checking.

So I drove back.

When I got there, I discovered it wasn’t just any animal—it was a tiny baby kitten, only about 2–3 weeks old, abandoned, weak, cold, hungry, and injured.

I immediately picked him up, kept him warm, and brought him home.

My amazing aunt helped me by buying kitten milk and supplies so I could start caring for him right away. I named him Casper

Casper is a tiny white baby boy with one black spot on top of his head, and he completely stole my heart.

As I started caring for him, I noticed he was limping badly on his right leg. I’m currently unemployed after losing my job 3 months ago, which has caused major financial hardship, but I knew I had to get him help.

At the vet, I received heartbreaking news.

Casper has an injured/broken right leg and needs ongoing treatment.

Here are the medical costs:

• Exam: $200+

• X-ray: $500+

• Sedation & observation: $220+

• Enema for constipation: $30+

• Medication: $220+

The vet gave me 2 options:

1. Surgery: approximately $10,000

OR

2. Leg cast treatment: 4–6 weeks of healing with weekly cast changes because kittens grow so quickly.

Weekly cast changes and follow-up visits are estimated around $300 per visit.

Estimated total:

• 4 weeks: $1,300+

• 6 weeks: $1,900+

I never expected rescuing this tiny kitten would come with such overwhelming expenses, especially during one of the hardest times in my life.

But I couldn’t leave him there to suffer.

Casper deserves a chance to heal, grow, and live a happy life.
