My name is Cathy. I am the mother of Lilly and Dustin Harper. I am creating this account to help them during this difficult time with medical bills, medical supplies, gas to and from the hospital, and anything else they might need.

On Tuesday, July 8th, Baby Barrett Lane Harper was born. Shortly after his birth, the doctors noticed an issue with him passing his stool; he couldn’t. On Friday, July 11th, at 4 a.m., Barrett was transported from Willis-Knighton Pierremont to Willis-Knighton South to be admitted into the NICU, where they began to run tests. All tests came back negative. They decided to take a biopsy of his colon to test for Hirschsprung’s Disease.

On Thursday, July 16th, Barrett was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease. Doctors informed us that he will need surgery to take more biopsies to confirm how much of his colon is missing ganglion cells.

On Tuesday, July 22nd, Barrett had his first surgery. They ended up giving him a colostomy bag and took 5 more biopsies to get a clear reading on where he had ganglion cells.

After getting the results on Friday, July 25th, the biopsies determined that he does not have any ganglion cells in 60% of his colon. Barrett will be undergoing his second surgery on Monday, July 28th, to convert the colostomy bag into an ileostomy bag, take out his appendix, and take more biopsies.
