Help Baby Astrid and Family Through This Battle

Our sweet Baby Astrid was expected to be released from the hospital, but she has another battle to fight.

This week we received difficult news. Doctors discovered that Astrid’s heart is not pumping blood where it needs to go, which has caused air bubbles to enter her bloodstream. She is undergoing an urgent heart work-up, and her medical team is doing everything possible to help her.

On top of this, Astrid took a turn overnight—she began passing blood in her stool. She is now NPO (unable to have any food) for at least 7 days and is receiving only sugar water, along with two strong antibiotics to treat an infection in her intestines and stomach lining. The doctors are running more tests and consulting with surgeons because they suspect something may be wrong with her heart that hasn’t yet been found.

Through all of this, Tara has not been able to return to work as planned, and the family is making constant trips back and forth between the hospital and Farwell. The emotional and financial strain has been overwhelming, but together we can help ease some of the burden.
