Baby Ari’s Continuing Health Battle
Ari Milton Askey was born February 3rd and in the short time he has been in this world, he and his family have gone through so much! Ari is considered a high medical needs baby. Born with a congenital heart defect, cleft palate, minimal hearing, and other major health concerns, he’s already spent the first month of his young life in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). He’s already had 2 major surgeries and countless procedures.
The specialists recently determined little Ari has a rare genetic defect called CHARGE syndrome which is what has caused these challenges. The defect presents different in every case, but for Ari, it impacts his eyes, ears (shape and hearing), cleft palate, and heart defects.
Once they finally had some answers and Ari was getting stronger, he was released to join Jenni and Tim at home where although he was constantly connected to machines, he was home! That was until he stopped breathing last Sunday. Tim started CPR right way and he was rushed to the hospital. He’s currently stable in the PICU, but he’s being constantly monitored as he fights a virus, and they determine other underlying issues.
Fortunately for Ari, he could not have been born to two more loving, amazing people, who through all of this have managed to stay positive and upbeat!
Due to the pandemic many of us cannot be there in person to help Jenni & Tim and in addition to the medical bills, travel expenses and more it makes a tough situation even more stressful.
We’re asking for your thoughts, prayers and support for the Askey family and our little fighter Ari.
