Help baby Anderson Barrett and his family

Donation protected
On May 27, 2022, Madison Mathis and Christopher Barrett welcomed their beautiful baby boy at 30 weeks gestation, weighing only 2 lbs 8 oz, due to Madison’s severe preeclampsia. Madison and Chris are both veteran ICU nurses who provide the most compassionate care to their patients- exactly what we (ICU nurses) strive to do at their level.

Tuesday, May 31- 4 days old- Anderson was diagnosed with a spontaneous bowel perforation and was airlifted to UMMC in Jackson for more specialized care and possibly surgery. The doctors suspected necrotizing enterocolitis, so penrose drains were placed in his belly in hopes of avoiding surgery. Unfortunately, the drains weren’t improving his tight little belly and his labs were not improving.

Friday, June 3- 7 days old- he had an exploratory surgery to find the perforation, and his mom and dad received the best news possible- gastric perforation. No necrotizing enterocolitis, no stoma, no resection. His blood was positive for bacteria, so his antibiotics have been changed to combat that.

Madison, at 26 weeks pregnant, was placed on maternity leave until further notice by her obstetrician and maternal-fetal medicine doctors due to the current and potential dangers of her preeclampsia.

Christopher has had to use PTO (unable to use sick time) in order to be by his soon-to-be wife’s, Madison, side since their son’s birth but will be returning soon in hopes of having remaining PTO to use when precious Anderson finally gets to come home from UMMC in Jackson.

Madison and Chris are having to stay in hotel rooms every night ($$$) plus traveling expenses, gas (Hattiesburg to Jackson), food, as well as mortgage payments, and vehicle notes, just to name a few. They have been put on the waitlist for the Ronald McDonald House but that list is very long, as you could imagine.

Anderson is expected to stay in the hospital until his due date, August 4, or longer depending on how his tiny body heals after the complications he has endured.

We are asking for PRAYERS especially but if you would like to make a monetary donation all of the funds will go straight to Madison and Chris.
