Rebuilding After the South River Art Studio Fire

Hi, my name is Bathsheba “Babs” Bauduy, and I’m the founder of That Game Social and That Creative Dept.

On November 12th, our studio, our creative home, went up in flames during the devastating fire at South River Art Studios in DeKalb County. In a matter of hours, we lost everything: our full inventory, production materials, props, and equipment that we’ve built and collected over the last 7 years that we have been in business.

This fire didn’t just take our things, it took the space where countless ideas were born, events were designed, and community was built. Like many artists in the building, we’re heartbroken. South River wasn’t just a workspace, it was a creative hub that nurtured so many Atlanta artists and small businesses.

That Game Social and That Creative Dept. were founded to celebrate culture, creativity, and community — bringing people together through immersive experiences, art, and storytelling. Losing our physical space and materials is an enormous setback, especially after an already challenging year with widespread DEI and multicultural budget cuts affecting so many of our partnerships and clients.

We’re determined to rebuild, but we can’t do it alone.

If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, your support will help us:

-Replace essential production and event equipment

-Cover immediate needs, rent, and operating expenses while we are unable to fully function

-Sustain us through the upcoming holiday season, which is already our slowest period for events

-Continue employing local creatives, artists, and vendors who rely on this work

-Preserve the cultural and community-driven experiences we’ve poured ourselves into for years
