In October 2014, Babette was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and aggressive blood cancer. At the time, she was a single mother to 7-year-old twins, facing an uncertain future.
In May 2015, she underwent a lifesaving autologous stem cell transplant at Emory in Atlanta, after growing and collecting her own bone marrow and stem cells through apheresis. She remained in remission until 2018, when the cancer returned. After a year of chemotherapy and steroids, she required a second stem cell transplant, which she received as an outpatient at Bon Secours Cancer Center in Greenville—using stem cells collected during her first treatment.
Maintenance chemotherapy helped keep the cancer at bay for several years, but in October 2023, it returned for a third time. Despite weekly rounds of chemotherapy, the cancer has proven resistant. Babette got into the CAR-T trial after waiting 8 long months for a promising clinical trial called CAR-T at Emory, which could offer a new chance at remission.
We are asking for your support. The costs of ongoing treatment, travel, and care are overwhelming, and every donation—no matter the size—makes a meaningful difference. Your generosity can help Babette access this potentially life-saving therapy and continue fighting for her life. Please consider donating and sharing her story. Together, we can give her hope and a fighting chance.
