Babee, my 17-year-old dog, has been a constant source of love and support for our family. She’s protected us from strangers, comforted us in hard times, and been a gentle angel to everyone she meets. For 17 wonderful years, Babee has filled our home with joy, but recently her health has declined rapidly. She can no longer eat, walk, or stand, and we’re bathing her several times a day because she’s unable to control her body. It breaks my heart to see her suffering like this, and I wish I could give her the dignity she deserves in her final moments. Even the low-income vet requires a fee for euthanasia, and I simply don’t have it. Babee stopped eating regularly just four days ago and lost the ability to walk two days ago. We love her deeply, and she’s given us so much—including her children.

Her oldest daughter, Fabee, is 13 and has always been by Babee’s side. Fabee was recently diagnosed with a large tumor in her stomach, which has grown so much that it’s tearing her nipple apart and causing her constant pain. I’m doing my best to keep her comfortable with pain medication, but she desperately needs surgery. The lowest price I’ve found is far more than I can afford. Normally, we would find a way, but our family has faced so much loss in the past few years. My 16-year-old son was taken from us through gun violence, and my oldest brother passed away unexpectedly in 2022 from a stroke while sleeping. My mother found him, and it was devastating. My father passed away in May, and my brother died unexpectedly on January 1, 2026. I was with him as he took his last breath in Rhode Island Hospital. With the costs of funerals and everything else, we have nothing left. I’m disabled and living on a low income, so I’m reaching out for help.

Babee and Fabee have been indoor dogs, spoiled and loved every day of their lives. The only time they go outside is to use the bathroom and play. Our last dogs, Brooklyn and Dallas, lived until they were 19 and 16, passing peacefully at home. I never expected anything like this to happen, and I’m heartbroken that I can’t give Babee and Fabee the comfort and dignity they deserve.
