B and S’s father was deported last year and their mother was detained at a routine check in appointment in February. For the next 12 days, she was held under inhumane conditions – inadequate food, no feminine hygiene products – until the threat of inspection caused ICE to move her to a detention center across the country and she has now been ordered to leave.

B, age 19, and S, age 10, are now alone, scared that they will be forced to return to a country they barely remember and that is no longer safe for them. B works full time while S attends school, but they are struggling financially and emotionally. The family wants B and S to stay in the United States, where they will not be subject to gang threats and worse, but they need our financial support to make that possible. Rent, food, transportation, and legal fees are more than B can earn while also taking care of S and his needs.

Children shouldn’t have to raise themselves alone. Please help show them that their community cares about them and will help them succeed.

El padre de B y S fue deportado el año pasado, y su madre fue detenida en febrero durante una cita rutinaria de control. Durante los 12 días siguientes, permaneció recluida en condiciones inhumanas —con alimentación inadecuada y sin productos de higiene femenina— hasta que la amenaza de una inspección llevó a ICE a trasladarla a un centro de detención en el otro extremo del país; ahora, se le ha ordenado abandonar el país.

B, de 19 años, y S, de 10, se encuentran ahora solos y atemorizados ante la posibilidad de ser obligados a regresar a un país que apenas recuerdan y que ya no es seguro para ellos. B trabaja a tiempo completo mientras S asiste a la escuela; sin embargo, ambos atraviesan dificultades tanto económicas como emocionales. La familia desea que B y S permanezcan en los Estados Unidos, donde no estarán expuestos a amenazas de pandillas —ni a peligros aún peores—, pero necesitan nuestro apoyo económico para hacer realidad ese deseo. El alquiler, la comida, el transporte y los honorarios legales superan con creces lo que B puede ganar mientras se encarga, al mismo tiempo, del cuidado de S y de sus necesidades.
