If you work in the corporate world and your coworker ever uses racial slurs and repeatedly harasses you, don’t report it to HR or they might try to cover for the other person, retaliate, and ✨fire you✨ instead. 

That’s what happened to me towards the end of 2024. I’m currently battling it out with my former employer through the EEOC in hopes of receiving a settlement at some point for wrongful termination/retaliation. However, it’s a long process that won’t be wrapping up anytime soon. Since then, my savings, credit cards and a few favors have kept me afloat while I put the effort into moving on to a better work place. Unfortunately, that has all been depleted.

The good news is that I have finally secured a new position! I’m a hospitality design project manager. The bad news is that my start date keeps getting pushed out further and further due to the tariffs causing a great deal of uncertainty and volatility within my industry. This is mainly because a large portion of factories (where custom furniture is manufactured) are in China. Being said — I can’t be onboarded until they have more clarity on how to navigate moving forward. Right now, we’re tentatively looking at mid-May.

I’m at the end of my rope financially and could use some assistance making it through this final stretch of what has been an incredibly rough time. It would mean everything to have my community chip in and lend a hand. This money is solely going towards living expenses.

Also, I want to assure you guys that everything I’ve stated is factual and I would never fabricate a story for funds. I have way more integrity than that and quite frankly, I find this to be utterly embarrassing. People tend to use your hard time against you or to be cruel, so this is truly a last resort type of situation. Trust me — if I had a larger support system or family to fall back on? I would not be here.
