Our sweet pup Azula has recently been diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) which is a progressive, incurable disease that affects the spinal cord and slowly takes away mobility in the back legs. She's already lost much of her ability to walk on her own.
(You can read more about DM here: Degenerative Myelopathy )
Her vet referred us to a canine rehab specialist, who recommended a combination of hydrotherapy, a mobility harness, and a rear wheel cart (dog wheelchair) to help her stay active and maintain her quality of life for as long as possible.
We were able to purchase the harness, which helps us support her around the house and into the car. But the wheelchair would allow Azula some freedom, giving her the chance to explore the yard, go for walks again, and just be a dog.
Degenerative Myelopathy sadly has no cure, and the only “treatment” is physical therapy to help extend mobility and comfort as the disease progresses.
We’re asking for help covering the cost of the rear wheel cart, and, if possible, some of the rehab therapy. Any amount helps and means the world to us and Azula. If you're unable to give, sharing this page is just as appreciated.
Thank you for supporting our girl. ❤️
