Azon has always been passionate about fitness and helping others, inspiring those around him to be their strongest selves. In April 2025, Azon faced a life-changing challenge when he was hospitalized with severe congestive heart failure and dangerously low ejection fraction - doctors told him that his heart was operating at 10% of normal function. Since leaving the hospital, he has worn a lifevest (a wearable defibrillator) every day to protect himself, while working tirelessly to regain control of his diabetes and attending cardiac rehab to improve his heart health. Through determination and hard work, Azon has made incredible progress; he has lost around 80lb and has improved his heart function, currently estimated to be around 30% of normal function, and continues to show the same strength and resilience he’s always encouraged in others.

Despite these strides, Azon’s heart function (30%) remains too low for him to be out of danger, and his doctors believe it will likely remain this way for the rest of his life, with 30% being the highest his heart will now ever function. The next critical step in his recovery is receiving an implanted cardiac defibrillator—a device that will monitor his heart and, in the event of cardiac arrest, deliver a life-saving shock to attempt to restore his heart rhythm. This device is essential for Azon’s safety and will give him the chance to live a longer, healthier life, surrounded by the friends and family who care so deeply for him, and to plan a long future with his life partner, Carly.
