Hey, everyone, my name is Azalee Irving, but you all can call me AZ for short. I am a now 19 year old, African American female, who has been born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Growing up, I’ve always had a love for the creative arts. During high school, I was involved in a AP theater class. I’ve done many productions in and out of school with organizations and places like Chicago Urban League, CHA, Court theater, Lyric Opera house, Arts incubator, Etc. I’ve been onstage, on set, behind the scenes as far as assistant director, cast, make up, key grip, scene crew, box office, etc. What I’ve been doing now that I’ve recently loved is working with DePaul University by attending there Becoming A Filmmaker summer program. The first year I joined, I made a short biography on my nephew called Little Hands, Big Help, it can be found on video. That first piece was chosen for the Apple Showcase and put in the Chicago tribune! The second year, my individual piece that I submitted for No Malice Film contest, which is called Interracial Relationships (also found on Vimeo) was chosen and I won third place for Robert Ebert’s Ebertfest! I met Chaz Ebert and a lot of more great people from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Foundation. I would like to continue working with DePaul. I am in very good relations with the director and photographer and they see great potential in me. We come together on our own time and create. I’ll be helping the director on a movie soon, whilst working with his wife, the photographer, on photography. A grad student recently filmed her thesis film in my home. I wish to attend DePaul to extend my editing skills and also create my own content. I would love if anyone could help me achieve this by donating, whether big or small, to my cause to help me buy my own camera to help make this happen. I, myself, will also be putting money aside for lenses and other equipment. I deal with BPD and photography and film are my main coping skills and hobbies that I use to ground myself. It’s literally all I love to do. So, once again, anything will help, and when I do achieve my equipment, the results of my work will be astonishing and I will definitely mention you all’s help in a documentary on myself one day. I am currently working towards the Sony A6500. I love you all, and I also can’t wait to make films about the crime, death, and also beautiful aspects of my city, Chicago. I want to use my ability to project that Chicago is not a bad city, and that there are very beautiful aspects despite the crime
