Help Ayra Get the Urgent Vet Care She Needs

Donation protected
Meet Ayra. She became dear to me not by choice, but by necessity. She needed help then, and she still needs it now.

Ayra was part of my local neighborhood cat colony, which I have been feeding and monitoring for the past few years. I knew her well from my home security cameras, though at the time she had no name. For over two and a half years, she lived entirely outdoors.

This past summer, I noticed a troubling change. Ayra became frail, visibly weak, and struggled to eat. I realized she could not crunch her kibble and was swallowing it whole. I began feeding her higher quality food, smaller kibble, and softer options, making sure she ate every time she showed up. She soon started coming multiple times a day, and I often stayed with her so other cats would not disturb her.

Slowly, she gained weight. Her coat improved. I was able to give her flea treatment and a dewormer mixed into her food. Over time, we built trust, even though she initially would not allow touch.

As colder weather and heavy rains approached, I built her a heated shelter under my porch bench. Unfortunately, a neighbor allows their two dogs to roam freely from time to time. After several dangerous incidents where they chased and terrified Ayra, it became clear the porch was no longer safe. Talking to the neighbor led nowhere.

I then created a warm, cozy space in my garage and left the door slightly open at night so Ayra could choose to come in. She did. As storms worsened, I eventually closed the garage door completely, unsure how she would react.

To my surprise, she adjusted immediately. She began using a litter box, settled in, and has lived safely in my garage since last November. Over time, she transformed. I can now pet her, brush her, and even play with her. She is no longer just surviving. She is trusting.

But Ayra urgently needs veterinary care.

She clearly has dental issues. She cannot bite or chew, only swallow food, and her tongue often hangs out. I strongly suspect she is living with chronic pain while eating.

I plan to take her to my trusted veterinary hospital where I have taken previous rescues. Based on experience, the initial visit alone will be around $500. Bloodwork is approximately $300, the exam is $80, and this does not include vaccinations or any immediate treatment she may need.

This estimate is realistic and based on past rescues.

I am asking for your help to get Ayra the care she needs as soon as possible, and no later than the end of January 2026. She cannot wait any longer.

Every donation and every share brings Ayra closer to comfort, relief, and a chance at a loving forever home.

Thank you for being part of her journey.
