Hello, my name is Ayoub Mostafa Hilmi. I am 23 years old and currently a fourth-year medical student studying abroad in the Dominican Republic (UNIBE). I was born and raised in New York and decided to follow my dream in the pursuit of becoming the first college graduate/Doctor in my family. Unfortunately, my school lost the ability to apply for federal loans 4 years ago, which meant that I had to apply for Private loans (Sallie Mae) with a co-signer. I've struggled throughout my entire medical education to find co-signers but with the grace of God, I have been able to make it this far. Sadly, I have run out of every resource at my disposal and currently have no means of paying for the last 3 semesters/ 1 school year, let alone my living expenses.
I am very proud to say that after 5 years of countless studying and sleepless nights, I have been able to maintain a 3.7 GPA, all while being on the executive board of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). I have already taken and passed the first step of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) which puts me that much closer to accomplishing my goal of graduating and starting my medical career (residency) in the U.S.
It breaks my heart to be in this position. I am asking for your gracious help to allow me to accomplish my goal. Every single donation submitted means the world to me and I am very grateful for you to take the time to read my story.
