Until just a few weeks ago, Lou and Anthony were living the life they had always dreamed of. They are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters and were joyfully preparing to welcome their third child—their first baby boy.

Then, one unexpected trip to the emergency room changed everything.

Their sweet 10-year-old daughter, Ayana, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a rare and aggressive form of childhood leukemia.

As if that wasn’t enough, doctors discovered a genetic alteration in her leukemia cells that makes them resistant to standard chemotherapy. This means Ayana must now undergo additional targeted inhibitor treatments alongside an already incredibly demanding chemotherapy regimen.

Thankfully, here in Spain, Ayana’s medical treatment is covered by the public healthcare system. At first, Lou and Anthony believed they would not need financial help.

But as friends and family have watched them navigate this unimaginable journey, we kept asking how we could help. Together, we realized that fighting childhood cancer comes with countless hidden costs that quickly become overwhelming.

The Hidden Costs

Daily transportation & hospital parking

Ayana has now spent over a month in the hospital and has not yet been allowed to leave her room. Her parents travel back and forth every day, and hospital parking costs add up quickly.

Lost income

Lou and Anthony are both self-employed. If they cannot work, they do not earn an income.

Lou has had to stop working completely to stay by Ayana’s bedside, care for her younger daughter when she is home, and attend her own pregnancy appointments.

Anthony cares for their youngest daughter while missing one or two workdays every week so Lou can briefly return home, and so he can be with Ayana during procedures that Lou, because of her pregnancy, cannot safely attend.

Meals and daily living

Long hospital days often leave little time or energy to prepare meals, making food deliveries a daily necessity.

October: the biggest challenge yet

This October, Lou is due to give birth to their baby boy.

During that very same month, Ayana is expected to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

Their family is already organizing relatives to travel and rotate through their home to help with cooking, laundry, childcare, and everything needed to keep life moving while they focus on Ayana.

Ayana’s Wish

Beyond the physical battle, there is also the emotional one.

Like many children receiving chemotherapy, Ayana is beginning to lose her hair.

One of her biggest wishes when she is finally allowed to go home is to have a beautiful, natural-looking wig that helps her feel like herself again.

A high-quality human hair wig for a child can cost between €1,000 and €3,000, and we would love to make that wish come true.

How You Can Help

Lou and Anthony’s only wish is simple: to bring their daughter home healthy.

This fundraiser exists because so many people have asked how they can help.

Every donation—no matter the amount—will help ease the financial burden of transportation, hospital parking, meals, childcare, family travel, daily expenses, and Ayana’s wish for a beautiful wig.

Most importantly, it will allow Lou and Anthony to focus all of their energy where it belongs: helping Ayana heal, caring for their little girl, and welcoming their baby boy into the world.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others is another incredibly meaningful way to help.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your prayers, and for standing beside Ayana and her family during the hardest fight of their lives.

Every act of love brings them one step closer to home. ❤️
