My name is Nancy, born and raised in Washington, DC. I am a faithful woman of God. I am a strong, loyal, and dedicated wife to my loving husband who is currently incapacitated due to a traumatic event that took place 4 months ago on this past Mother’s Day May 11th. My husband Lonnie suffered a seizure and currently has an anoxic brain injury due to him having no blood flow to the brain because he was without oxygen for an estimated total of nine minutes. To this day he has yet to recover and is still verbally unresponsive at the moment. With my husband, we have a total of 10 beautiful children who I absolutely put first in my life and care for with every breath in my body. I am a loving and devoted mother that attends to their every need. Financially, it has been extremely hard to provide and take care of all of the responsibilities for my family on my own. In the past, we have been experienced being without food and utilities and even experienced being homeless. Since then I have received support from my community and still seem like things have gotten worse. I have yet been able to work in 4 months due to my family's circumstances. Going forward, it has been so much going on in my life, storm after storm. At times I mentally, physically, and emotionally feel like I cannot handle what’s happening or even pull myself together. I am daily by my husband's bedside and caring for my children and household all at the same time. It has been very stressful and exhausting, but I will continue to pray and stay strong. With this all being said, I am struggling to pay and keep up with bills. I am behind in rent payments, and just a few days ago, I was served a notice to file a claim in court by my landlord with a intent to vacate the unit if rent fees are not met in 30 days. I would not want my family to experience that situation again. I have recently reached out to all resources that I can think of in DC for any assistance, but at this time, I keep receiving responses such as wait until they reopen and that there are no funds as of right now. Also, I have so many other household fees. I have a 17-year-old daughter's who is a senior this year which I yet to start get her ready for. I also have a son who’s graduating and going to high school this year. To add to that, the holidays are approaching, the kids are in need of a lot and things are definitely going to be tougher for us this time around being the first time going through such a traumatic change in our lives. Please, I am genuinely asking for help and support at this very difficult moment. I pray in the bloody name of Jesus Christ, my family and I will get through this . I pray God will continue to give us strength. I pray for my husband restoration and healing. I pray that all of his brain cells function properly and that he’s able to walk and talk again and able to be with his family again. I pray that my children are safe from harm at all times, I pray that my children remain healthy and continue to have a blessed school year. I pray that I remain mentally, emotionally, and physically stable and that I will get through this difficult period of my life. Lonnie is currently in ICU for close monitoring due to his blood pressure being really low and almost needing to due compression to his chest. He lost a lot of blood because of heavy bleeding from wound and needing a blood transfusion. Please do contact me with any questions or concerns and information if possible.
