Since 2017 Seattle has been enjoying the authentic Israeli flavors of Aviv Hummus Bar. One of the most common questions we have gotten from customers is "Would you ever become kosher?" Well, we are excited to announce that that day has finally come! By pursuing kosher certification with the Vaad of Seattle we hope to expand our Aviv community, while continuing to serve our years-long loyal customer base.

In order to make this happen, we are trying to raise $20,000 to cover the costs of kashering the kitchen. (GoFundMe automatically starts with incremental goals of 5,000, then 8,000 and increases as we make progress). Donations will help us pay for the following:

-costs of labor for kashering

-new equipment

-a hand-washing sink for guests

-the certification fee/ mashgiach services for the first year 

-loss of current inventory

-loss of income during our week-long closure to complete this process

***The restaurant is not Kosher yet*** We are hoping to open by the end of the month and these funds would help give us the security we need to move forward smoothly and meet this goal!

What to look forward to: We will have the highest standard of kosher certification pareve and cholov yisroel/pas yisroel so all your Jewish friends will be comfortable eating here. We are installing a hand-washing sink, accommodating for larger tables so your family can comfortably enjoy a meal together. We are changing our hours of operation to accommodate after-school dinner dining and pick-up (We are conveniently located on 15th avenue in Capitol Hill-- about half way between SHA and MMSC.)

About us: If you haven't seen our restaurant yet, we have a funky, bright, tel-avivi spirit. The food is delicious and fun for the whole family. Our space includes table seating and an open kitchen so you can feel part of the hummus magic. Israeli music is always bumpin' and the decor will transport you. 

David and Jodi Nussbaum here— we are two Seattle-area natives, descendants of proud Israelis who fell in love and opened this restaurant with the hopes of creating a little piece of our other home, here. For the past 9 years the restaurant has received acclaim in multiple publications, and has maintained a local customer base of regulars that attests to the continued high-quality of our food and standards.
