Our sweet daughter Avery went from being a vibrant, horse-loving, active 11-year-old to suddenly fighting Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare autoimmune condition that attacks the nerves. What started as weakness quickly escalated, and she’s now been out of school for two weeks — a week in the hospital receiving IVIG treatments, and now continuing her recovery in a rehabilitation center.
We as a family are incredibly grateful that the ascending paralysis stopped at her legs and that treatment was able to reverse the progression. We are especially thankful to God, Avery is strong, determined, and fighting hard — she’s currently relearning how to stand, walk, and regain her independence. Her biggest goals are simple but huge: get back to school and return to the barn with her pony and friends.
As you can imagine, the road ahead comes with unexpected medical costs, time away from work, and a few home modifications needed to make so I can bring her home safely and support her recovery.
If you’re able to help — in any amount — I would be forever grateful. We know times are tough for everyone, and even the smallest donation or share means more to us than we can say.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Love,
Her Family
