Help Avery Through an Expensive Two Months

Donation protected
TL;DR I’m breaking an expensive lease to move to a smaller place AND getting surgery next month, so I need all the help I can get with expenses like buyout costs and lost income!

Hi friends! If you don’t know me, I’m a college grad cozy gamer in her mid 20s working in both broadcast media and logistics. On my rare off time, I partake in hot chip and Tumblr brainrot as much as the next funky gal.

At the beginning of this year my roommates have had to move out of our apartment in the middle of our lease, so I’ve been shouldering the full rent ($1,233/mo) and monthly utilities (~$220/mo) since then and haven’t been able to add anything to my savings while paying these bills.

Luckily, I have been able to use the savings I do have to sign the lease on a much cheaper apartment closer to both jobs! Unluckily, while my old lease’s does let me break it via a buyout clause, said buyout clause dictates that after I give a 60-day notice, I pay a month of base rent in addition to the normal rent charged through the 60d notice period. I live in a very cutthroat housing market, and it was simply a miracle to have scored the option I did--I didn't want to turn in the notice without having an option secured.

At my new place, I have a month of rent and utilities (~$950) saved up, but I will definitely need help with the month after while I'm finishing the lease to the old place as well.

There’s also the matter of my surgery. I’ll be frank: this isn’t good timing—especially in the middle of a move. But this is a gender-affirming procedure scheduled months in advance; and with a very uncertain outlook for trans care in the US, I need to get this surgery in while it's still convenient and legal in the general area. And hopefully, documentation of this procedure will allow me to change my gender marker in a few places I haven't been able to yet, which will be a massive help. While the procedure itself is thankfully covered by financing and I’ll only need a paid week off from my full-time job, I’ll have to go around 4 weeks without heavy lifting to recover—aka I’ll need about a month of unpaid medical leave from my part-time logistics job, the income of which has been essential to getting me through this whole rough patch.

Below is an itemization of what I need help with:
  • Buyout fee for old lease (1mo base rent) due at end of April: $1,125
  • May’s rent for new place + estimated utilities: $950
  • Lost income from medical leave (~$150/wk X 4wks): $600
  • State tax bill (debits May 1): $290

So friends, any little bit you chip in--be it $10 or even $3--will go a LONG way in these next two months to help keep me out of even more debt as I make it through this rough situation. Thank you all SO so much in advance <3
