The Beginning of the Cycle Hi everyone, my name is Avery. I’m writing this because I’ve reached a point where I can no longer carry the weight of my financial situation alone.

A few years ago, when I was younger and less experienced, I fell into the trap of predatory credit card tactics. At the time, I didn't fully understand how high-interest rates and "minimum payments" worked. I thought I was managing, but in reality, I was sinking into a hole designed to keep me there. What started as small mistakes turned into a mountain of debt that has become impossible to climb.

A Hard Hit Things went from difficult to dire when I unexpectedly lost my retail job. I have spent every day since then applying for new roles, pounding the pavement, and trying to secure a steady income. Despite my best efforts, the job market has been incredibly tough, and the "no's" have started to pile up alongside the bills.

A Sacrifice for Love The hardest part of this journey hasn't been the empty bank account; it’s been the toll it has taken on my relationship. To keep us afloat, my girlfriend had to make the incredibly difficult decision to take an out-of-state job.

Living apart has been heartbreaking. She is working tirelessly hours away just so we don't lose everything, but even with her sacrifice, we are still falling behind. It kills me to see her take on this burden because of mistakes I made when I was younger and a streak of bad luck with my employment.

Why I’m Asking for Help I am someone who prides myself on working hard, but I am officially underwater. We are behind on rent and electric and also our car payment, and the interest from those early credit mistakes is suffocating our ability to recover.
