** Averi has met her goal to get her cubby bed, allowing her to sleep SAFE! We cannot thank you all enough for your generous donations, and helping our baby sleep safe. We obviously have raised a little more than our goal and we have decided all extra funds moving forward. We will donate back into other children also raising funds to get their very own cubby bed having been denied through insurance. All donations will be used to help provide a safe place for these children to sleep. We understand we have met our goal and Avery gets to sleep safe, but we also feel every child should be able to do so and knowing what it feels like as a parent, having somebody else who doesn’t know your child deny them something that they need, we would like to bless other families who have to deal with the struggle that we have been subjected to. Averi is a 8 year old, with severe medical complexes. She suffers from uncontrollable seizures, Autism, sleep apnea and Global developmental delay. Her seizures mainly occur when she is sleeping, putting her at a much higher risk for SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death with Epilepsy) Averi has on average about 30-50+ seizures a night. Since her night time seizures began (roughly 2 years ago) Mom has had to stop sleeping in her own bed and has slept with Averi on the couch, as Averi has a twin size bed. Averi has lost her sense of independence having to sleep with mom every night. Not to mention the countless visits to the chiropractor visits mom takes from having slept on the couch for the past 2 years.

Recently her doctor had told us about the cubby bed, it has a camera (and other technology to assist in keeping her safe) to allow visual of Averi while she sleeps, alert us of any episodes and will record the events to share with her doctors. Averi will have her independence back and live a semi normal childhood with being in her own bed. Her doctor told us how we could submit it to insurance, and they would pay for it as it is medically necessary. We spent months getting all her specialist to write letters telling insurance why this is a medical necessity, and filling out ALL the paperwork to get this bed approved through insurance.

Today We received the call that even with several Doctors whom care for Averi stated it is necessary for her to have this bed, Insurance has denied us. So now we must either let Averi to continue sleeping on the couch with mom or pay for the bed out of our own pockets. Having a medically complex child is already a struggle financially, so having this added to our pockets is even more of a strain.

The bed itself is $7950 and the mattress is separate when paying out of pocket so that's another $649 Bringing the grand total to : $8,599 without taxes.
