Hi, my name is Courtney Elias! My oldest sister, Avary, who is 29 years old (only six years older than me), and I have a remarkably close relationship. She is the person who I can talk to through thick and thin and she is one of the few people who I would do anything for, therefore, it pains me for what I am about to say next.

Avary, my incredibly young and kindhearted sister, has recently been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer that has turned her life upside down. The doctors are pursuing an aggressive treatment; she is preparing for surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, reconstruction, and hormonal therapy in the months and years to come. This is such a heavy burden for a single 29-year-old who has always hoped for a family of her own. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, her position at work has changed and she currently has inadequate insurance that cannot cover her necessary treatments. To off-set the enormous expenses she will be encountering and to help her through her lengthy recovery, my family and I, as well as close friends, have started a GoFundMe. It is our hope that we can raise enough money to support her emotionally, physically, and financially because her experience is nothing less than draining and overwhelming.
