Help Avant-Garde Fencing through Covid-19

Donation protected
Avant Garde Fencers Club  is one of the premier fencing clubs in Los Angeles. Over the course of our ten-year history, head coach, Daniel Costin , has made having fun a top priority. This philosophy has not only bred national team members and Olympic medalists but also created a tight-knit community of fencers, parents, and coaches by providing a space where members feel safe and can grow and learn together.

However, due to the spread of COVID-19 and the need for social distancing, AGFC has been forced to temporarily shut down. Though we continue to teach online classes and support our community we are gravely concerned that the club may not be able to weather this storm. We are primarily concerned with paying for rent and utilities. While small business loans are a possibility, the economic uncertainty of the coming months could prevent us from paying those loans back.

We ask for your support in this time of need; however, we would also like to offer something in return. With closures of clubs all around the world, many fencers are struggling to figure out how to stay active. For this reason, AGFC has partnered with Better Fencer’s founder and Olympic Medalist, Jason Rogers (a long time student of Coach Daniel’s) to bring you a video course of fencing exercises and workouts specially designed to be performed at home.

This course consists of six-modules:  Hand-Eye Coordination, Footwork/Footspeed, Mobility, Balance, Conditioning, and Core Strength. Each one contains exercises that Jason relied on extensively on his path to winning a team Silver Medal in Beijing.

• Contributors of $25 will receive PDF guides for each module with detailed exercise descriptions and work out plan recommendations.

• Contributors of $50 will receive the video course as well as the PDF guides.

•Contributors of $100 will receive the video files, PDF guides, and access to a live webinar Jason Rogers will give on the topic of performing under pressure. This webinar will take place twice so as to accommodate people in all time zones.

• Contributors of $200 will receive the video files, PDF guides, access to Jason’s webinar and a personalized Zoom lesson from an AGFC coach.

• Contributors of $500 will receive the video files, PDF guides, access to Jason’s webinar, a video lesson and a private one-to-one video consulting session with Jason Rogers. Scheduling of these consulting sessions will begin in May 2020.

Once your contribution is submitted you will receive an email from us containing a link to your guide and videos. You can also keep in contact with us through this email as we schedule webinars, lessons, and one-to-one consulting sessions.

Regardless of your level of contribution, please know that whatever you give is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support through this difficult time. Our hearts go out to everyone suffering through this crisis, and we hope we can help you stay active at home. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Best,

Daniel Costin and Jason Rogers
