Hi everyone, I’m in a bad situation and need emergency help.
I am asking for:
$2000 for past due medical bills
$720 for ongoing physical therapy
$2000 for February and March bills (car payment, utilities, credit card payment, etc)
$280 for groceries
Here’s what has been going on:
In September of 2023 at 321 lbs and having developed prediabetes, VERY high blood pressure and resting heart rate, and being unable to even walk my dog through my apartment complex without being out of breath, I underwent vertical sleeve gastrectomy to remove 3/4 of my stomach and give myself more quantity and quality of life as I lost significant weight.
Everything seemed to be going great with my healing in the first couple of weeks following surgery, but then I started to have severe back pain which travelled down my left leg. By October 11th, 2023 I was in so much pain that I could not stand or walk and had to be taken to the emergency room. What followed were 3 months of excruciating agony being out of work and in a wheelchair, while literally going down every possible avenue- pain management doctors, physical therapist, chiropractor, aquatic therapist, and 2 neurosurgeons- before finally being told that I needed a discectomy and hemilaminectomy to alleviate my excruciating pain. That surgery was performed on 1/9/24 and required 6 more weeks of being out of work to recover.
As you might imagine after 2 surgeries and all of those doctor visits I have a lot of medical debt, but additionally, since I will have been out of work for almost 5 months when all is said and done, I have exhausted all of my resources to pay my normal bills and buy food and other essentials. My short term disability has ended, my long term disability may or may not even be approved, my savings is gone, and my credit card is maxed out and although I should be returning to work on Feb. 21st, my first full paycheck won’t be coming until March 15th.
I know that we all have our own bills to pay and that many of you have supported me to walk my dog, clean my home, cook my food, take me to every appointment, even shower me, and so it is with deepest gratitude and true regret that I come to you asking for more. I’m just really struggling and I don’t know where to turn. Anything you can do to help is much appreciated!
With truly all of my love, Avalon
