Help Ava have hair!

Donation protected
My 11 year daughter, Ava, has had alopecia (an autoimmune disease) since she was 2 years old. This means she is unable to grow hair on her head because her skin essentially attacks it at its root. There is no cure, and Ava has been bald for about 9 years now.

While Ava has been rocking various coloured scarves for these years, she would rather have hair. We have recently discovered ‘Freedom’ wigs through other alopecia sufferers, and they are amazing! They are made of human hair and have a silicone cap which is designed specifically for the scalp of the individual. They ‘suck’ onto the scalp so that Ava could handstand, swim and even skydive in the wig (if she wanted to)! Of course, they don’t come cheap and also won’t be a one-off cost as she will grow out of the wigs as her scalp continues to grow (until it settles around 16-18 years). They last about 1-2 years and cost between $3200-$5000 each.

Please help Ava have a bad hair day! She would love the freedom to go to new places without the stares. And she would love the opportunity to style her hair and do a handstand!
