Help Ava Recover from Surgeries After Porcupine Attack
Donation protected
On February 8th, my dear friend Mackenzie’s dog, Ava, had a frightening vicious encounter with several porcupines at Nose Hill Park. Ava was rushed to Paramount 24 Hours Hospital where she underwent an emergency 6.5 hour surgery. It was one of the most severe cases of quilling they’ve seen. Ava started with 14 large incisions, including 5 in her mouth.
Due to the amount of quills Ava was hit with, and the locations the quills have migrated to, Ava has now been required to be under the care of Dr. Campbell - Dentistry and Oral Surgery Specialist - at VCA Care Centre. She has already undergone multiple extensive high risk surgeries to remove deeply embedded quills, and she still faces more life saving procedures ahead. Despite the best and kindest care, the recovery process has been long and challenging, and the veterinary bills continue to grow.
Ava is not just a pet—she’s family. Ava is the sweetest soul and touches everyone’s heart who meets her. Anyone who knows Mackenzie knows how much she loves & cares for Ava - she is her whole world. We want to rally around them during this difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward covering Ava’s medical expenses and ensuring she gets the care she needs to survive and heal.
If you’re able to help, your kindness and support mean the world. Thank you for being part of Ava’s ongoing recovery journey!
