My name is Ava Cable and I am a sophomore at Calaveras High School.  I joined the CHS band during my freshman year and have fallen in love with it since. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, the band's activities have been limited and we were unable to have a marching season. The opportunity to march in this iconic  parade will give me a chance to experience band in the fullest.   

 In January I created a video and auditioned for the Macy's Great American Marching Band. In March I found out that I had been accepted! This opportunity means that I get to spend one week in New York City working with other band members, performing in the Thanksgiving Day parade, as well as enjoying sightseeing in the city. Your donation will help cover hotel costs, meals, transportation, a student leadership session, sightseeing, uniforms, and my plane ticket.

Being able to go to New York City will allow me to get out of a small town and experience life in a much different part of the country. Along with that, I will get to learn from the leadership session, directors, and other experienced members of the band.
