Ava just had 6 precious babies. She was brought to Devore with her babies by a man who said he found them... then he decided he was going to keep her babies and leave her... he also alleged she had bitten him.
Just like that, Ava was separated from her babies and set to be killed. She was all alone in a scary, cold, isolated kennel and was deemed rescue-only for the alleged bite.
In her last hour, Blue Collar Dog Rescue jumped in to save her. I, (Chelsey), took her in to foster. Unfortunately, she was extremely sick and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I immediately took her to the vet and on top of pneumonia, she had giardia too. Her vet bill just to get her healthy was $600. She is 100% healthy today, but now needs to get spayed, which is another $300. So basically 1k just to get her healthy and spayed. Unfortunately, Ava did not have many pledges on Facebook. She had some on Instagram, but the majority of the people did not honor them. To date, we have not even raised enough to cover her vet bill and spay.
On top of that, Ava has really been struggling. She is so shut down and terrified. She will not walk through any doorways that lead inside. I had to carry her into my home when I first got her. She is now getting comfortable with me, but that has turned into her being extremely possessive of me and snapping at any dog who dares even look in my direction, including my own dogs. She has also become extremely leash reactive to other dogs and some people.
There is no doubt in my mind that Ava was severely abused. The poor girl cowers when I stand over her. She needs a lot more help than I can provide, so we have decided the best option is to send her to a 4-week bootcamp with a very experienced trainer. Unfortunately, this is extremely expensive. It will cost 4k.
I know fundraisers for training never do well. But it is imperative for Ava because of everything she has been through. She is not in any position to be adopted in her current state. She needs help and we want so desperately to help her. But in order to help her, we need your help.
Any amount is so greatly appreciated. We cannot continue to save and help more dogs until we are able to raise the funds for Ava's training.
