Hi Friends,

If you haven’t met her before, allow me to introduce you to Ava Hanning. She is a bright, warm, hardworking young woman who is currently attending Alvin Community College and recently graduated from Friendswood High School. Ava loves the Lord and has spent a good portion of her life serving in various ministries both overseas and in the U.S. She regularly helps lead worship at our church and others and is a volunteer junior leader in Young Life at Friendswood High School. In July of 2025, Ava was attending a Young Life Camp in Colorado after spending a month on the mission field in Europe. It was a week of fun and adventure that she was really looking forward to. Unfortunately, while at camp, she fell during an activity and fractured her patella and severely strained her MCL. At her insistence, despite serious pain and swelling, she finished the week at camp, crutches and all. If you know Ava, you know she doesn’t quit easily! Upon her return, she saw a doctor and had several tests run, including an MRI. Unfortunately, the MRI and X-rays showed a fragment of bone and a severely strained ligament. This type of injury will require surgery and a bone graft to fill the patella so it will heal properly.

Currently, the Hanning family does not have health insurance. As you can imagine, this surgery will be expensive. I would like to ask you to consider helping with the medical costs of getting Ava back to her vibrant, energetic self, free to walk without aid and enjoy her ministry calling and freshman year of college.

The current estimate from the surgeon and hospital comes to a total of $38,000. This includes the bone material for transplant, anesthesia, surgeon, hospital costs, and post-surgery physical therapy.
