Hi! I am Ava Garabedian, a film student at the New York Film Academy. I will be shooting a short film, When the Tide Holds Us, in late October 2025, and am looking for funding.
My film is about love, grief, and acceptance, shown through a young woman who is haunted by the loss of her twin brother. She is caught adrift between life and death and is pulled through the shifting tides of her memory. As the truth resurfaces and reality comes to light, she must face the past she tried so hard to forget — and find the strength to carry love and loss with her, before the current carries her too far.
I was inspired to make this film after witnessing the many ways people process grief throughout my life. Some become sheltered, while others seek escape in reckless choices. There's no single way to mourn, but there is a shared human truth; finding a path through grief is essential to rediscovering one's joy and purpose. This film showcases that, and shows us that while loss changes who we are, it does not have to define us.
To realize this vision, I am raising funds to cover essential production costs, including location rental in Upstate New York, transportation, housing, food, and production design. While my crew will be small, ensuring their safety and well-being is a priority, so transportation and food costs must be covered. Any additional funds will provide a cushion for unexpected expenses.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference. Donors will receive a production credit, and those above $50 will receive a personalized thank-you card as a token of my gratitude.
Thank you so much for your time and support—I cannot wait to share this film with you!!
Best :)
