Hi. My name is Autumn Williams. I am 39 years old, and am in my third year of my bachelor's degree. I'm in school to be a counselor because I want to help people who feel stuck, invisible, or less-than move out of those places and see brighter days for themselves. I am a single mother struggling to take care of my daughter by myself. I live on disability and that doesn't cover the things that we need everyday, which is why I decided to pursue a higher education.
Back in January, I was informed that I had made the Dean's List for the second time. Yesterday, I received an invitation to the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) which is my school's chapter of the Honor's Society. The only thing standing in my way is the small fee to join. With limited income, I already stretch things so thin just to keep food and supplies in my house and the bills up to date and paid. But this opportunity is invaluable. Joining the NSLS would allow me to graduate with Honors, receive professional training, and make me a better candidate for jobs at entry-level after graduation.
Any support offered to me would be greatly appreciated by myself and my daughter. She's watched me struggle and now it's time for her to watch me win.
