About two years ago, my daughter Autumn was riding her bike to work when she was hit by a car. She needed surgery and, because she hadn't been employed long enough, didn't have medical insurance. The accident left her unable to work, and she lost both her job and her apartment. After surgery, Autumn stayed with her brother while she recovered. The insurance company settled, and the money was just enough to pay her lawyer and medical bills, put a deposit on an apartment, and buy a used car. But on her way back from looking at a car she didn't purchase, Autumn was robbed and lost every dime she had saved for a car.
Autumn found a job she could walk to, but it means walking four miles to work at 2am, which is extremely dangerous. Her job recently cut everyone's hours, so she's only working 20 hours a week. When she had a car, she was able to do DoorDash and make ends meet, but without one, she's fallen behind on rent. This year has been especially hard—her dad passed away in September 2025, and her grandfather died just two days before Thanksgiving, only two months apart. I wish I could help her financially, but I'm not in a position to do so.
Autumn is a hard worker and just needs a break. If you're able, please consider donating to help her get a car and catch up on rent. Sometimes we all just need a little help to get back on track. Thank you for reading and for any support you can give.
