Our youngest sister, Autumn, a loving wife and mother of two teenage daughters, has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).  Both our mother and our uncle were diagnosed with ALS and have since passed.  Unfortunately, since then, there has only been one new FDA approved drug for ALS .  The most widely used drug is called Riluzole, which apparently only extends the life of an ALS patient for three months. 

We can't say enough about our little sister.  She is so kind, thoughtful, and selfless, always putting everyone else's needs before hers.  We now have to remind her that her health must come first, and putting herself first is not easy for her.  Things are getting harder for her, so time is of the essence.  Autumn's diagnosis is devastating for her and her family, but she is keeping a positive attitude,  and she is determined to beat this for herself and her family.  

Since Autumn's diagnosis in June, we have been researching the latest and most promising treatments out there.  We are looking into stem cell therapy.  Stem cell therapy is available for some diseases, but it is only in the trial stages for ALS.  Due to this fact, we will likely need to take Autumn out of the country for treatment.

We have personal experience with this disease and the toll it can take on a family.  The road will be difficult, so our goal is to help lesson the financial burden Autumn and her family will encounter.  Insurance will not cover the various treatments she will undertake, so any help you may give will allow Autumn to continue her fight against this debilitating disease.
