My name is Arielle Cañate, and I’m the proud owner of two pets: Autumn, a nine‑year‑old dachshund/yorkie mix, and Cookie, a young kitten. Both of them need to be spayed and updated on their vaccinations. Autumn has three large, though thankfully benign, tumors that require surgical removal from her lower stomach. Cookie, still a kitten, has begun her ovulation cycle and urgently needs to be spayed as well.

I recently graduated from graduate school and am actively applying for jobs, but I’m unable to cover the cost of these procedures on my own. While I’m grateful that both Autumn and Cookie are otherwise healthy, the veterinarians emphasized that these surgeries are necessary.
