Hi! My name is Leah, and this is my sweet boy, Austin! Around our house, he is known as Pew Pew, Bubba, the first “son,” the “nice one” when people visit, our best friend, and the most loyal daily source of comfort.
A few weeks ago, Austin suffered a pretty devastating injury while running/jumping off steps in the backyard chasing a squirrel.
After what has now been several visits to vets, x-rays, and specialist referrals, we learned he completely tore his ACL and damaged his meniscus (called a cruciate ligament rupture), which is extremely painful for a dog of his size. The fix is a surgery called TPLO that includes shaving his tibia down and placing plates and screws!
The cost of the surgery is $7,000!! Including his hospitalization, anesthesia, medications, pre-surgery blood work, and the plate with 6 screws.
Austin is scheduled for surgery this Thursday, 7/17 - and as many of you know, I work as hard as possible to do what I can - but this time, I can’t do it alone!!
Austin has been in our lives for over 10 years, and this surgery gives him an excellent chance at mobility again! After 10 short weeks, his mobility should be at least 90% regained!
every donation, big or small will go directly towards Austin’s surgery and recovery! If you can’t donate, sharing would mean the world.
With hope and an everlasting wagging tail,
Leah and Austin
