My son Austin was in a motorcycle accident on March 29 and was airlifted to Redding with a TBI. He spent the first 10 days in an induced coma and on a ventilator. On April 9th, the doctors were able to wake him up and remove his ventilator but he is still in the hospital and facing a long road to recovery. Once discharged, Austin will be sent to Acute Rehabilitation, most likely in Sacramento, where specialists will work with him to help him regain his strength and hopefully return to fighting fires—a job he loves and is passionate about.
Unfortunately, the hospital and the nearest rehabilitation center are 4-5 hours away from our home. This means we will need to cover the costs of transportation, lodging, and other medical expenses that his insurance may not cover. We are determined to do everything we can to support Austin through this difficult time.
I'm asking for your help to give Austin the best chance at recovery. Your support will help ease the burden and allow us to focus on his healing. Any contribution, big or small, means so much to our family. Thank you for being part of Austin's journey back to health.
