Help Austin Nash Fight Seizures Again

Donation protected

Hello, everyone. It’s with a heavy heart that we are reaching out for help once again for Austin Nash, my son. Eight years ago, Austin underwent epilepsy brain surgery at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital and went eight years seizure-free. Then, in July, Austin, his fiancé Teylar, and her brother were in a serious automobile crash on their way to South Point Hotel & Casino. They were T-boned by a drunk driver. Austin suffered another head injury that required stitches, and Teylar was seriously injured and almost lost her baby at seven months pregnant. Her brother T.J. was also badly hurt.

The first week of March, Austin had his first breakthrough seizure. Then, on March 22nd, everything changed—he began averaging two to five seizures a day. He was hospitalized three times at Summerlin Hospital, and during his last stay, he was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in California to see the neuro team that performed his first brain surgery. After meeting with the team, we learned Austin will require two more surgeries. The first will involve opening his skull to place electrodes on his brain for seizure mapping. If they can safely remove the affected part of his brain, they will. If not, they will install a neurostimulation device to help control the seizures.

We are asking for help to cover medical bills, lost wages, travel expenses, and lodging while Austin receives treatment far from home. Natalie may need to take unpaid leave, and we have already been away for a week with the possibility of staying two to three more weeks. The last time, Austin was younger and we could stay at the Ronald McDonald House, but now he is 22 and too old for that option. It’s hard for us to ask for help, but we know we can’t do this alone. Any support means the world to our family and will help Austin get the care he needs.
