A short time ago, I had to undergo a major surgery — one that saved my life, but also changed it completely. The recovery has been harder than I could have imagined. I went from being independent and managing on my own, to suddenly needing help with the simplest daily tasks: cooking, bathing, even getting to medical appointments.

The truth is, I can’t do this alone. My body needs time, care, and stability to heal — and right now, I’m facing the reality that I can’t afford the level of assistance I need.

• Follow-up medical treatment and vital rehabilitation
