UPDATE, NEW REQUEST: Just as Aurora has been making progress on a more secure housing situation and still working hard on finding employment during childcare hours, her car broke down the last week of October. Unfortunately the car, while in good shape otherwise, needs the transmission rebuilt which is very costly and estimated at $5,000. On top of that, the SNAP benefits that she and the girls rely on are uncertain. Transportation is critical for Aurora to get the girls to school and childcare, get food, and for any possibility of employment. Michigan, known as the automotive state, also has a very underfunded and underdeveloped public transportation system making living without a car extremely difficult.

Given these uncertain times around SNAP and the defunding of essential programs, please consider giving to help support Aurora and her girls find the stability that they deserve.

We are raising funds for Aurora and her beautiful girls. Aurora and her girl's lives were torn apart after domestic violence last year, and they have been working hard at rebuilding this year and still need our help. After securing stable housing this year, getting the girls adjusted and into school and childcare (so she can work), Aurora has been struggling to find enough work to be able to pay her rent, and has been applying to many jobs without success yet. Aurora needs to rely on community to make it through this passage.

Aurora is a talented, trained, Ayurvedic postpartum doula, educator, and healer who holds a BSW from EMU. She is an incredible mother and friend. Let's show up for Aurora and her girls, to give her enough cushion to support her through her job search. There is so much violence out there, but contributing is something practical and material that we can do to show up and make a difference in Aurora and her girl's lives.
