Help Aurora & Oakley Get A Diabetic Alert Service Dog

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Krissie, mom to identical twin girls Aurora & Oakley, Who now both have Type 1 Diabetes. Being a twin mom is a job all on it's own but add in a double dose of toddler diabetes and I truly do have my hands FULL.

Aurora was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 23 months old. We thought we had life all figured out until about a week ago when sister Oakley peed through a pull up one night and my gut told me to check her finger. Her blood sugar was 422 and off we went to Children's to start the process all over again. We made it almost a year in between the two diagnoses.

Parenting two toddlers with a medical condition is next level. Type 1 Diabetes never sleeps, never takes breaks, and never takes an off day. My brain is going 24/7 watching numbers, counting carbs, and adjusting insulin doses.

They are so young that I am truly unsure if they even feel when they have a low blood sugar. I know I have never once seen Aurora miss a beat even if she is in the 40's.

We have them both on the best technology the medical community has to offer. Continuous glucose monitors, Insulin pumps, and even special extra loud alarm clocks that could wake up the neighborhood for those middle of the night lows. The truth is technology is amazing but also has it's flaws. Struggles of sensors not being accurate, or loosing signal. Not to mention our life is based on wifi signal and we all know the struggles of loosing wifi.

We are doing everything in our power to manage this disease but we need help. That's why we are raising money for Diabetic Alert Service Dog. Diabetic Alert Dogs are specially trained to smell when blood sugar levels are dropping or rising, often before any monitor or human can detect.

A Diabetic Alert Dog can be life changing for our family, maybe even life saving. I know as a mother it would give me the peace of mind knowing we have that extra line of defense monitoring my sweet babies.

These dogs are very expensive and the training process is long. So I'm asking for help so we can get the process started now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story, thank you for sharing, and thank you for donating.
