Help Aurora Gain Independence with a Service Dog

Donation protected
Hi. This is Aurora and she has nerve and muscle disorders. Aurora is 8 years old and has dreams of being a gymnast one day. She likes to be independent but she has to depend on her family and medical equipment to help her with every day activities. We are looking at getting Aurora a mobility service dog to help her become more independent and feel more like a kid again. We need help to make that happen.

Service dogs can make a life-changing difference for people with disabilities providing them with assistance and companionship that can improve their quality of life. However, the cost of purchasing a service dog can be quite high, which is why we're turning to the community for support.

We're raising funds to cover the cost of purchasing the puppy from service dog breeders and then the cost of training the service dog the skills and commands needed specifically for Aurora. The dog and Aurora would be trained together starting when the dog is 14 weeks old. Initial training will start with the breeder until the dog is given to us between 8 and 10 weeks old. Every dollar counts. Whether you can donate a little or a lot, your contribution will make a huge impact and help us achieve our goal.

The mobility service dog will help Aurora with stability so she will have less falls and help with every day walking so she can rely less on her medical equipment. The dog will be able to sense when she is about to have a pain flare and prepare her for it and help her through a pain flare. The dog can help with deep pressure therapy which helps her pain and nerve stimulation. The dog will be able to open doors and turn on light switches so she doesn't have to wait on an adult or a sibling to help her move around. If Aurora does fall the dog will be able to help her up and alert a parent or other emergency adult so she can get help. The dog will be able to help her move through daily activity so Aurora will feel more comfortable and safe. And much more. We will be getting a Labrador Retriever. As we move through the process I will update donors and followers on this page when we reach the goal to be able to purchase the dog. The breeder will then let us know when a litter is ready and they will decide from that litter which dog will be a good fit for the needs of Aurora. I will then update when we can bring the dog home and when we start the process of the training at 14 weeks. I will be uploading pictures and progress notes. It will be a long process but it will be worth it to see my daughter independent and happy.

So please, help us make a difference in my daughter's life by donating to our fundraiser. Together, we can make it possible for someone in need to to have the support and companionship of a service dog. Thank you for your support.
