Fight Cancer & Support Aurora’s Leukemia Battle

Donation protected
Hi everyone,
We’re the Idle Family—Ethan and Amanda, parents to two incredible little girls—Lily, 3.5, and Aurora, 2—from Calgary, Alberta. We’ve always done our best to hold our family together, but right now, we’re facing challenges we never imagined. We’re swallowing our pride to ask for your help, and we’re so grateful for anyone who takes the time to read this.

Our youngest, Aurora, is the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet—strong, upbeat, and smart beyond her years, with the best manners for a 2-year-old. She’s our little light, always bouncing back no matter what life throws at her. She was born with a cleft lip and palate and had surgeries at 5 months and 13 months old to repair it. She fell ill, with what we thought was a bad virus. When I took her into emergency and thats when our whole world flipped upside down. Our baby girl has been diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She’s has already started treatment, with multiple surgeries, and a long two years of chemotherapy ahead. Despite everything, she keeps smiling, and we’re determined to fight for/with her.

Meanwhile, our family is barely scraping by, after months of being off work, everything that was left has slowly been used. Amanda (I), a nurse by trade, the caregiver of our family and glue that keeps us going—Ethan calls me the rock we’d fall apart without. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for two years, raising our girls. Ethan, our protector and a loving dad, has been off work since Christmas due to unexplained seizures. They’ve been pretty severe—one micro-seizure even caused him to total his father’s car while driving. In the aftermath, we gave our family car to his dad so he’d have a way to get to work, leaving us without a vehicle. Doctors are still working to figure out what’s wrong with Ethan, but for now, neither of us can work.
Our oldest, Lily, is sweet, kind, and compassionate—a role model big sister who adores Aurora. Seeing them together is what keeps us going, but everything has been hard lately. Between medical bills, gas for hospital trips, groceries, rent, and utilities, we’re stretched beyond our limits. Our family has helped as much as they can, but the expenses are overwhelming, and we’re ashamed to admit we can’t do this alone anymore.
We’re hoping to raise $80,000-$100,000 to cover two years of living/treatment expenses while Aurora fights leukemia and Ethan recovers, even if Ethan is medically approved to go back to work we can begin to build a savings account again and pay off any old outstanding debt. As we don’t feel comfortable using donations to pay our debt from our previous life and expenses. Proceeds would help with:
* Aurora’s medical treatments, surgeries, medications and hospital travel
* Replacing our car to get to appointments
* Food, rent, and bills to keep a stable home for Lily and Aurora
* Basics to get us through while we focus on healing
We’d be so thankful for anything you can give- if you can’t donate, even just sharing this with others. Every bit helps us keep going. We dream of the day when Aurora’s healthy again, and she and Lily can go play rambunctiously, happy-go-lucky, and carefree together like sisters should.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support. We’ll keep you posted on Aurora’s journey and our family’s progress.
With gratitude,
The Idle Family—Ethan, Amanda, Lily, and Aurora.
