Meet Patricia Wallace

Patricia Wallace was born in Norfolk, VA on November 15, 1948. As the oldest of nine siblings, she had a large role in raising her younger siblings. Patricia was well known for her baking during family holidays and taught her siblings not only how to read but various games and card games. She was affectionately known as “Encyclopedia” due to her extensive trivia knowledge she gained from being a voracious reader. For over 30 years she worked for Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company which is now known as Verizon and AT&T and retired almost 10 years ago.

 

Patricia's Debilitating Stroke

A few years ago, Patricia Wallace began experiencing a decline in her health. Sadly, she recently suffered a debilitating second stroke in May 2021. This has led to a significant decrease in mobility and function of her left side. The family is hopeful that with rehabilitation and therapy that she will eventually be able to walk with the assistance of a walker. As of now, she is very weak and unable to move without great assistance. Also, Home Health aides and nurses are needed to help with basic everyday tasks for nourishment, personal hygiene, and she needs constant supervision.

 

Patricia Needs Your Help and Prayers

Against the wishes of the family, the hospital rehabilitation center discharged her in July 2021. Within a week of her discharge, she had to be readmitted to the hospital emergency room for related health issues. The family is seriously concerned for her health and well-being. Please pray for her recovery and rehabilitation. We want to ensure that she is able to get the medical attention she needs to have a full quality of life- and soon! To achieve this, she will need home health aides for 12 hours a day for two weeks every month. Health aides are averaging $20/hr. We will also need help with the cost of medical equipment rentals and incidentals.
