Help Laura Hurry Rebuild After A Devastating Fire

My name is Mark Tannis and I am starting a GoFundMe to help my Aunt Laura. A massive fire broke out in her apartment building overnight on Monday (technically very early Tuesday June 11, 2024). She escaped with her life and the clothes on her back. She has lost all her belongings.

The Red Cross has stepped in to provide her with a temporary emergency shelter, a small amount of money to buy food and some clothing to last until Friday. They are also ensuring some of her urgent basic needs are met in the short term. She may then get a bit of additional short-term help from other organizations, but the details are unclear at this point.

Obviously, this is a massive and devastating loss, and she is now in the unfortunate position of needing to replace absolutely everything. She will need to refurnish an apartment from scratch (bed, sofa, table, chairs, linens, cookware, tableware, cutlery, a wardrobe, outerwear, shoes, computer, etc. etc.)

Laura is working tirelessly to close all loose ends and file claims. Her family and friends are also working as a team to help her coordinate the many moving parts.

Laura was living in Charlottetown, PEI. At this point it looks like she will move to Ottawa, where she has lots of family support.

Laura is a kind and loving woman who has endured a devasting loss and is now facing extremely difficult circumstances. This is going to be a long and hard journey for her.

I am hoping we can all come together as a community to help her rebuild.
