Help Augusta County vet protect his family, husky

Donation protected
Joeseph and Edith Sande moved to Augusta County a short time ago. As you have likely read, less than one month after arriving in Virginia, a neighbor they had never met shot and killed his service dog, a husky named Bear or Buddy Bear.

The man who killed Bear is out of jail on a $5,000 bond, and the family and neighbors feel both he and his wife are a threat to the Sandes and their surviving husky, Hazel.

Joeseph Sande has been to the magistrate twice since his dog was murdered because the wife of the man who shot his dog accelerated in her car toward Joeseph when he was walking Hazel, and a second time when he was in his vehicle with his wife, Joeseph said. Both times she veered away at the last minute. She is facing assault and battery charges. However, Joeseph said, police are skeptical that this is happening and he needs video proof to show them the truth and get convictions in court.

The neighbors are also reportedly heavily armed. Joeseph, a veteran, wants to protect his family.

While coming to Virginia hasn't been a warm welcome to the Sandes, it is my hope that we can show there are people in the area who care about him, his wife and his husky, and we all want him to be safe. As a couple in their mid 20s, missing work for court appearances is already putting a financial burden on them.

Cameras on their property, in their vehicles and on walks would make the Sandes feel safer. Cameras might also provide video evidence to the Sheriff's Department of what is happening at all times.

The Sandes are looking to purchase GoPro Minis for their dogs; GoPro Hero10 for their vehicles; Google security cameras (and monitoring) for their home; trail cameras and a GoPro dog harness for their surviving husky.

With your gift, we can help them get the security they need - and lift some of the financial burden on them during this difficult time.

Thank you for joining me in showing them that Virginia has good people here who want to help them.
