Help August beat cancer!
Donation protected
On November 7, 2018, August was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare cancer that is affecting both of her eyes, making her diagnosis even more fraught. Retinoblastoma is a very rare cancer (only about 300 hundred children in the US are diagnosed a year), but is the most common form of cancer that affects eyes in children. Stephanie, August's mom, noticed a glare in her pupil, and immediately took her to the pediatrician on Monday, November 5, who referred August to a specialist in Savannah. The specialist diagnosed August on Wednesday, November 7 and by Friday of that week, the whole family--parents Stephanie and Martin, and August and her twin brother Luke--were in Atlanta visiting specialists at Emory's Children's Hospital. On November 12, 2018, new tests showed that August has five tumors in her eyes.
August will need six months of chemotherapy and laser treatments, which will start on Wednesday, November 14. I am putting together this gofundme, to help Martin and Stephanie cover the costs of gas (the ride to Atlanta from Savannah is nearly four hours), food, and some other incidentals along the way.
Any amount would help! Thanks so much to everyone for your support, love, and prayers! August has a long road ahead of her, but we are confident that her treatment will be successful!
